Mark is the founder and president of GreenWave Scientific and has over fourteen years of progressive experience in high technology environments ranging from executive level responsibilities to cutting–edge research, design and development. Specializing in system architecture, antenna design, and dielectric & electromagnetic theory, he is well-versed on the interactions of electromagnetic energy with various materials. Dr. Buff is responsible for defining corporate strategies and objectives, and assists with product development strategies from concept to roll-out to end-of-life cycle, including product architecture definition, determination of product feature sets, support planning and product line management. Dr. Buff currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at North Carolina State University where he received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. His research included the study and characterization of electromagnetic energy propagation on wires over lossy earth, which resulted in a first-time production of empirical data that describes electromagnetic energy propagation along a single wire lying on the ground. This work provides a knowledge base for use in various efforts involving trip wire detection and other similar military activities. During the course of his research, novel contributions were made with the development of new microwave measurement de-embedding techniques, novel antenna designs and the development of broadband dielectric surrogates and phantoms. |
